The next speech you will complete for this class is the Persuasive Speech. The Persuasive Speech is the last of two speeches you will complete that require research. The first step in the planning process is to have a topic.
Students should use the same topic as your informative speech although in the persuasive speech, you will write a policy speech in which you propose a course of action or policy to address the issue. In other words, you will provide a solution. You will try and convince your audience to agree that your policy or plan is the correct on and/or that your audience take some form of action.

Remember to use proper spelling and grammar. 10% points will be deducted for poor grammar and spelling
Here are the basic requirements:
1) The topic must be current, controversial, and important. You SHOULD use the same topic as your informative speech but you will offer a plan or solution or make an argument.
2) The speech will be 5-7 minutes long.
3) You will persuade your audience to agree with a policy or solution and/or take some form of action to stop/decrease a specific problem. You will provide the audience with FACTS and data from credible resources to back up your point of view concerning your chosen topic. If you cannot back up your point with credible sources, then you should not give that point!
4) You will cite at least 4-6 sources during your speech (ex. according to…, as stated in…, said by…) (4 cited sources will earn you a maximum grade of “C,” 5 cited sources will earn you a maximum grade of “B,” and 6 cited sources will earn you a maximum grade of “A.” You will be able to recycle/reuse up to 50% of your sources from your informative speech research.
