The Beginnings of Culture
The Beginnings of Culture Studying the Prehistoric era is a visit to another time, but one where many of today’s societal traditions began. While it can be challenging, in this week’s Seminar you’ll learn about the similarities between people across such a vast period of time. You will investigate the underlying purposes that remain common for human beings, and how the formation of early religion had such a great influence on traditions, laws, community structures and artistic products.
Why do you think that ancient peoples organized themselves into villages and followed religions or philosophies? What was the purpose and outcome?
What are some of the key features of early religions in Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt? Do people in your culture share some of the beliefs or practices of these early cultures?
