C171 Argumentative Essay Instructions
The purpose of the argumentative essay is to assess written communication skills. The challenge is to persuade the reader of the validity of the thesis presented. In an argumentative essay, the writer must convince the reader of his/her argument(s).
The paper will be 3 to 5 typed, double-spaced pages. The paper will use one-inch margins and Times New Roman 12-pitch font. Use third person and active voice in academic writing.
Remember to cite all sources. When in doubt, always cite the information if it is not your original thought. Cite the source using either footnotes or endnotes IAW the Turabian style of documentation; do not use parenthetical citations. This includes direct quotations, paraphrases, and summaries of the assigned readings, doctrinal references, or outside sources.
